The owner of a durable medical equipment (DME) supplies was convicted and sentenced for health care fraud because she presented false prescriptions for power wheelchairs on behalf of Medicare beneficiaries, provided those beneficiaries with power scooters which were less costly than power wheelchairs, and bagged the significant cost difference between the two.
