Proposed Tax Worries Medical Equipment Manufacturers

Local medical equipment manufacturers are cautioning that a proposed tax in the new health care reform bills will just end up in increased hospitals costs.

Jim Conway, CEO of Rochester Medical, said in a statement that it seems if they were trying to lower health-care costs that taxing medical equipment was going to do just the opposite of that. The company, based in Stewartville, designs and manufactures catheters.
